If you think your boss is the worst, this might make you feel a bit better.
Carol Jumper received a catastrophic diagnosis in August. She found out she had cancer of the pancreas, liver and ovaries. It’s hard to imagine all of the thoughts and emotions that must have been going through her mind after hearing news like that.
But even harder to imagine was her boss’s reaction when she told him about her awful health crisis. Instead of holding her hand and telling him how terribly sorry he was, the Pennsylvania woman’s oral surgeon boss, Dr. George Visnich, wrote her a letter firing her from her job in his office. Classy move, guy.

TheRagingChickenPress got a copy of the unbelievable letter telling Jumper she was being fired from her job because she was sick from her stunned fiancé Dennis Smerigan.
“You will not be able to function in my office at the level required while battling for your life,” Dr. Visnich wrote. “Because of this, I am laying you off without pay as of August 11, 2014.”
But Dr. Visnich apparently didn’t want to leave her with the impression that he was cutting her loose at her most dire time of need in an impolite way.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you fight this horrible disease. Thanks for your time at Visnich Oral Surgery. I hope your battle is swift, smooth and successful!”
Thanks, jack hole, I’m sure that was a huge comfort.
Unfortunately in today’s employment environment, this type of horrifying behavior is all too common.
A Colorado Chick-fil-A restaurant recently demoted Daphne Richards, a single mother of two, for taking leave so she could have a double mastectomy to fight her breast cancer. As if the pay cut wasn’t enough, the company, which originally attracted her with its “family values” message, also cut her health insurance. That’s probably the worst thing you could do to a woman facing a major life-saving surgery.
“I had breast cancer in both breasts,” she said. The treatment would include a double mastectomy, which would require months of recovery time.
What’s going on in America?
The good news is that people have taken notice and are publicly shaming these bosses for their actions.

Here’s the revenge-fueled Facebook page for Dr. Visnich >>
If nothing else you can troll these awful bosses and let future heartless employers know we’re all watching, and not terribly impressed.
