Notice anything different?
For the past few months our teams have been working around the clock to make a better SheKnows. We recoded our entire site (no small task) with mobile in mind. It’s sleeker and faster, putting the content you want at your fingertips while leaving room to discover a little something unexpected. Our gorgeous videos are more accessible, our images are bigger and bolder, and it is way easier to share and save the stuff you love.
Today, we’re thrilled to unveil a new logo, and even more excited about what it represents: Our mission to inspire women every day. We think it’s the perfect reflection of where we came from, who we are today, and where we’ll go together.
From mood boards to brainstorm sessions, this logo and mission emerged. True to our “experts among us” philosophy, we worked in stealth mode over five days with a talented friend-of-a-friend who is an architect by day, kick-ass logo designer by night (check out our corporate site to see more of his beautiful work). First, you might notice that “sheknows” is now written in lowercase. We think it exudes a quiet confidence, all caps felt a bit shouty. You’ll also see that we’ve kept the orange in a tribute to our roots, and modernized it with gray, since our lives aren’t black and white – or pink. We embrace the gray space because in those messy, beautiful, real and joyful moments, we connect.
Women inspiring women is not just our mission, it’s our rally cry.
This is at the heart of everything we do. Whether it’s parenting or pop culture, fashion or food, DIY or décor, we want to inspire content seekers and content makers alike. We hope to be a community that empowers women to explore and pursue their passions and make life just a little bit better. We’ve found kindred spirits with our sister sites, StyleCaster and BlogHer. With an eye to the next generation, we launched a program called Hatch that helps kids use media and technology to express themselves in productive and positive ways. Plus, we’re always on the lookout for advertising messages that support women and girls – you can follow along using #femvertising.
We’re not stopping there. In the coming months, you’ll see brand new photography (sometimes even featuring our staff!), addictive slideshows, and cool tools. In our commitment to cultivate and mentor talent, we’ll also be opening our studios in New York, Los Angeles, and Scottsdale to our Experts so they can create even more original photo and video content for you. Check out a few favorites who will make your kid a star at the lunch table, help you understand what online dating is like when you have a disability, offer tips to talk finances when your significant other moves in, and give you the inside track on fall fashion essentials that you should add to your closet ASAP.
SheKnows has evolved a lot since our early days. Our new look better represents our personality. We think it’s sophisticated yet accessible, like your favorite LBD, and strong yet humble, like your very best friend.
We love the modern confidence of our new logo and we can’t wait to hear what you think, too! Comment below or email us at [email protected] to gush, vent, or share your point of view.
