When police arrived at the scene, they found the suspected gunman near the entrance to the library. When ordered to drop his weapon, the gunman began firing on the officers. According to Tallahassee Police, officers returned fire and killed the shooter.

In an eerie video uploaded by students who anxiously took shelter, a male voice on an intercom can be heard saying, “There has been a shooting in the library.” Anyone in the presence of a victim was advised to call 911. Students were told to remain hidden until retrieved. It sounds like campus and Tallahassee police responded quickly and appropriately to the terrifying situation.

Three students were injured by the shooter. One, who was grazed, was treated and released on campus. Two remain hospitalized, one in critical condition.

At 4 a.m., students were given the all clear to return to their homes. Many have turned to Twitter to share updates about their safety.

Our hearts are with the students of Florida State University and the people of Tallahassee.
