The West Coast

The most temperate of the climates in Canada, the west coast is home to lush rainforests and rugged mountains. Spanning British Columbia, the west coast is also the place to taste some of Canada’s best wines (in the Okanagan) and catch a glimpse or two or rare or near-extinct animals (many of which flourish here). Bordering the Pacific Ocean, a trip here is a must if you’re up for outdoor activities, like swimming, surfing, kayaking, camping or sailing. In the winter, people flock to the region for its world-renowned skiing, complete with a trip to Whistler Blackcomb, site of the 2010 Winter Olympics.
