Create a great centrepiece

Grab some fruit and place it in a glass bowl to pull together a creative centrepiece.

41

Mount your television

Ditch entertainment centres and mount flat-screen televisions on a wall. This will also free up floor space.

42

Add trim

Crown moulding and trim give any room a more modern and elegant feel.

43

Paint trim

If you already have trim, paint it a different colour. Avoid white. Instead, opt for something that’s bright and will add height to a room (like yellow).

44

Display your favourite objects

Don’t hide the things you love (like bags or shoes), showcase them! Hang bags from hooks on a wall or line shoes up in front of your bed.

45

Create your own headboard

All you need is a piece of wood, some foam and an artfully patterned piece of material.

46

Buy a pot rack

If you’ve invested in pots and pans, display them by hanging them on a stylish pot rack.

47

Cover wood chairs

If you’re tired of sliding on to wood chairs for dinner, create unique seat cushions. All you need is some foam, cool fabric and a staple gun. Place the foam on the seat, pull the fabric over and staple it to the underside of the chair.

48

Decorate with decals

Decals are a great non-committal way to decorate any space.

49

Create a collage

Any empty wall can be updated with a collage of your favourite things or photos. Ask friends to come over to help you create it.

50

Revitalize an old table

Use a sander to sand it down then add a fresh coat of varnish or paint to give it new life.
