5 Fun winter activities

Think like a kid

We may hate the cold now, but as kids, we couldn’t get enough of snowy days [especially if it meant a day off school!]. So in order to recreate some of that childhood fun, think like a kid. Build forts, have a snowball fight, make snow angles and build a snowman. Not only will you have a great time, you’ll burn calories and stay warm running around like you’re 9 years old again.

Get gaming

Another great way to have fun despite dipping temperatures, is to pick a game [Frisbee, capture the flag, touch football], dress warmly and play despite the chill. It’s easy to write off all your favourite activities as soon as winter hits, but don’t let the snow put a damper on your fun. Incorporate an afternoon of snowy sports with some socializing afterwards. Host a post-game party and serve hot chocolate, spiced apple cider, coffee and baileys and other warming beverages, along with some sweet treats.

Take on the trails

One of the hardest things about winter is feeling trapped indoors. Summer means camping, hiking, biking and swimming – i.e. tons to do, whereas winter is often a dead zone if you don’t participate in a seasonal sport [skiing, snowboarding, skating etc..]. So instead of hiding, hit the trails. Between cross country skiing, snowshoeing and winter hiking, there’s plenty to keep your body moving and your mind off the chill.
