Toronto Fashion Week has taken over David Pecaut Square once again, and there’s been some incredible clothing coming down the runway, as well as some beautiful hair and makeup looks. Here are three of our favourites so far.
World MasterCard Fashion Week, a.k.a. Toronto Fashion Week, is in full swing at David Pecaut Square, and with so many gorgeous hair and makeup looks, we had to make a careful edit to come up with three of our top looks so far.
The deep dark burgundy lip at Chloe Comme Parris
A little bit punky and badass, this captivating look is one we’d copy from head to toe if we could; but, to be honest, the burgundy eye makeup look calls for more skills than we possess. (Either that or more confidence — we’re scared of looking like we have rabbit eyes!) But the intense burgundy lip is one we can easily master, and you can too. Fortunately, this deep colour looks amazing on most complexions. Grace Lee, Maybelline New York lead makeup artist, used Maybelline Color Sensation Lipstick in Mauve-ulous to get the look.
The sexy, dramatic eyes at Matis by Lucian Matis
This glamorous look is one sure to turn heads. To get the eye look, Lee applied Midnight Master to the inner rim of the lower lash line, then lined the upper lash line with Bold Brown. To create the smokey eye, she used the four shades in the Expertwear Eyeshadow Quad in Chai Latte, using the darkest colour at the lash line and blending up lighter to the brow line. Then, using the bronze colour from the quad, she applied some shadow to the lower lash line, and added more intensity with Expertwear Eyeshadow in Night Sky at the outer corners of the lid. Finally, Lee further emphasized the lash lines (top and bottom) with Color Tattoo in Color Me Bronze, and finished by applying Volum-Express The Falsies Mascara in Black Drama.
The retro hair at Lundstrom Collection
We love how this popular hairstyle from the 1960s can still look just right so many decades later. And, as you might expect, one of the key styling methods for this look? Backcombing. Redken’s Jorge Joao and his team did a lot of backcombing, teasing to get the hair to poof out, then pinning it underneath to create the faux-bob shape and length. Key products needed to copy this look: Redken Fabricate 03, Fashion Work 12 and Shine Flash 02.
