Ditch your signature shade, and try one of these hot, on-trend colours for your next nail appointment.
Maybe you always get French manicures, or perhaps you’re a stickler for classic red. Whatever your tried-and-true shade is, with nails being the hottest beauty accessory now and so many great nail colours on the market, why not take advantage and play around with a fun new shade? Here are some of the trends of the season. Best of all, trying out these hot shades cost you only the price of a bottle of polish!
Natural neutrals
With neon colours, big, bold florals and details such as peplums all being so in this season, use this as a cue to tone down your nail colour. Try something in a pale neutral, such as white, pink, grey or beige. The sheer lightness and milky hue will add a nice, feminine touch against flashy clothing and accessories.
Corals and oranges
Yes, tangerine tango is indeed the fashion colour of the season, so what better season than summer to sport this sunshine-y, happy colour on your nails? It looks equally pretty on toes as it does on fingers. Just don’t sport coral or orange from head to toe; if you wear a coral dress, for example, use a different shade on your nails.
Pretty pinks and reds
You can never go wrong with a feminine colour such as berry, bubblegum pink, soft rose or a sexy red. And when it comes to these shades, it’s OK to take inspiration from your lip colour so that your lips and your nails remain in the same family of shades.
Bright and bold shades
If you’re feeling more daring and want to try an unconventional colour, yellows, greens and blues are making a splash this season and are sure to get your nails noticed. Go with a more pastel, Easter-inspired shade for something soft and feminine. For an edgier look, a neon shade or one Crayola-like in brightness is a great way to dress up an outfit.
Play and pair up two shades
Can’t decide on just one shade? Pair up two colours. A French manicure in two shades rather than the traditional creamy pink or beige with white tips is a simple way to try nail art, and most of us can manage applying it on our own.
