World MasterCard Fashion Week has just wrapped up in Toronto, and we were swooning over the spring makeup looks. In fact, we don’t know if we can wait for spring 2013 to try them out.
The tent’s been taken down at Toronto Fashion Week, Canada’s stylistas are recovering from a week of wearing high heels, and everyone’s buzzing about the hot metallic looks from the Joe Fresh runway. We too are completely obsessed with the hot spring beauty looks coming up next year. Want to know what to stock in your makeup kit this coming spring? Get ready for some sizzling looks.
Seeing red
Deep plum lips and oxblood clothing may be in for this fall, but get ready to pull off red lips this spring. A bright, bold red pout was seen on the Ashtiani by Golnaz Ashtiani runway, and a glossier version was slicked on the Evan Biddell models. You can get the same glossy look by applying lipstick and layering a red lip gloss overtop, according to lead makeup artist Grace Lee, who applied Maybelline SuperStay 14HR Lipstick in Ravishing Red and Color Sensational High Shine Lip Gloss in Gleaming Grenadine to the models.
So soft
If you shy away from edgy looks, you’re in luck, because a soft, pretty look was what the models wore for the Pink Tartan runway (perfect with the chic, polished clothes the line is known for). Lee went with a demure baby pink flush to the cheeks, and lips were a very natural-looking pink — just a little more flush than one’s natural pout.
Go green
Craving a super-fresh look for spring? Look no further than the eye look from the Mackage runway, where Lee applied a bright green eyeshadow along the lash line. The verdant touch wakes up the peepers with the most spring-like of colours.
Choose coral
If the corals of the past summer still hold a place in your heart, you’re in luck, as a bright coral lip, seen on the Joe Fresh runway, was one of the most talked about lip shades of the entire week. Keep the rest of your makeup minimal (just a touch of silver on the eyes) to make the lips the real focus.
Draw the line
Try a modern twist on the cat’s eye look this spring by taking inspiration from the Rachel Sin models. To create the look, use an eyeliner that doesn’t drag. For the shows, Lee opted for Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise Ink Pen Eyeliner on the lash line and in the crease.
