Crayon vase
A vase that is as colourful and eye-catching as the flowers inside it? Yes, please! This clever crayon vase created by Claire at A Little Claireification will make a lovely addition to your home or a great welcoming present for your child’s new teacher.
SheKnows Canada: What do you love most about this particular craft?
Claire: My favourite thing about this craft is that while it is so simple and budget friendly, the presentation is just so whimsical and fun. I love that a teacher can actually use this gift on their desk as functional decoration!
SK: When you were a child, what was your favourite thing about heading back to school?
C: Growing up, I always loved starting the year off with fresh, new school supplies. There is something about a new, unopened box of crayons that just makes you want to open them up and create something great! Even today, I have a love for new crayons, markers, coloured pens and Sharpies, so it’s hard to walk into an office supply store and not buy new colours of some sort!
Pencil frame
Every new school year is a big accomplishment in a child’s life. Commemorate the occasion with this fun and easy pencil frame created by Michelle at A Little Tipsy. It’s a great way to showcase just how proud you are of your child’s achievements!
SheKnows Canada: What do you love most about this particular craft?
Michelle: I love that this decor piece was created using simple everyday things you have around the house for under $5! It is the perfect way to display that special first-day-of-school memory in a creative way.
SK: When you were a child, what was your favourite thing about heading back to school?
M: I loved being able to learn something new each day and, of course, catching up with all the friends I had not seen all summer. I also loved school shopping! I still have a weakness for brand new notebooks and colourful sticky notes.
Crayon-and-pencil wreath
This crayon-and-pencil wreath created by Lina at Fancy Frugal Life is just too cool. It will make a great gift for that special teacher you know or a fun door ornament in your own home to celebrate the back-to-school season.
SheKnows Canada: What do you love most about this particular craft?
Lina: Well, this craft was made with love for my sister-in-law, who had her first classroom ever last year. She did great! And on the first day of teacher meetings, the principal made all the teachers walk over to her room and check out her “amazing wreath.”
SK: When you were a child, what was your favourite thing about heading back to school?
L: I loved new crayons and pencils (still do)! Fresh school supplies are exciting! I also loved the excitement of seeing friends and getting to know a different teacher. Back to school is wonderful.
