Celebrities with amazing skin and tips for getting it

Want celebrity skin? You might not be able to afford their laser treatments, lotions, potions and makeup artists, but there are a few things you can do to achieve star-worthy results and skin that’s ready for its close-up.

Mila Kunis

The beautiful star is just as famous for getting photographed in a bikini — with smooth, cellulite-free legs — as she is for her much-loved roles. How does she do it? We may never know her secret for keeping her legs in paparazzi-worthy shape, but you can achieve her smooth, glowing look by using the right moisturizer — one that works in a variety of ways to keep skin hydrated and looking even toned. Jergens®, for example, has added an illuminating HydraLucence blend to five of its moisturizers, designed to not only add moisture but also improve your skin’s texture, tone and luminosity. Bring on the bikini.

Kate Hudson

Getting Kate Hudson’s California glow is about more than just spending time in the great outdoors. Exfoliation is key for bright, glowing skin, says cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Kenneth Mark. “Radiance is achieved when the skin reflects light better, which is helped by removing the dead layer of skin cells on the surface,” he explains. “The simplest way to do this at home is with 2 per cent salicylic acid washes.” These help speed cell turnover and slough away dead skin cells, revealing more radiant, glowing skin beneath.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Recently Gwyneth Paltrow said that her youthful glow and smooth skin can be attributed in part to the Thermage laser treatments she gets. While those can be extremely costly for the average person, keeping skin looking young often comes down to adequate hydration both inside and out. Make sure you’re drinking water throughout the day (at least seven to eight glasses), because a dehydrated body means dehydrated skin that looks dull. Also try adding a hydrating mask to your routine, or a hydrating serum, which penetrates the deeper layers of skin to moisturize more effectively than cream or lotion alone.

Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron’s even-toned, even-textured skin is something we all covet. Blotchiness and uneven skin tone can be frustrating to deal with at any age. Mark explains that no-downtime, superficial chemical peels help attain even-textured skin with less blotchiness. “While celebrities may get these once every week or two, one can still benefit from monthly medical-grade peels at the dermatologist’s office,” he says.

Elle Macpherson

The fact that this model and actress is 50 stuns most people, since Macpherson looks at least a decade younger. To achieve her virtually line-free skin, there are a few pricey treatments you could try, including, says Mark, Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing, but that can cost thousands of dollars. Instead, as Mark recommends above, exfoliate for younger-looking, smooth, youthful skin. Without exfoliation, skin can look dull, uneven and lacklustre.

Heidi Klum

At 41, model and America’s Got Talent judge Heidi Klum looks much younger. Her supple, vibrant skin is something women of every age covet. Mark notes that in some cases, plump, youthful celebrity skin can be the result of fillers and volumizers, but again, those can be costly for the average person. Using skin care products that contain ingredients (vitamins A, C and E, for example) that boost collagen and elastin production in the skin is a more budget-friendly way to keep skin supple.
