Ruzwana Bashir is a Girl Crush with brains, beauty and grit

Oxford and Harvard educated? Check. CEO and founder of her own company? Check. Oh, and it’s probably worth mentioning that Ruzwana Bashir is also drop-dead gorgeous and terribly stylish.

When it comes to girl crushes, baby, she’s got it all.

When Ruzwana founded Peek.com, a site devoted to providing insider tips and booking for activities in cities across the globe, she left a successful career in finance to pursue her passion for startups in the mega-entrepreneurial metropolis of San Francisco.

Her secrets? First, she says, risk is good.

“The more risk you take, the more reward you’re gonna get,” Bashir says. “For every one of us, we should all be willing to take risks.”

She also tells SheKnows that she takes at least one full day off from work each week, although the other six days she spends about 16 hours a day in the office. Even with a day off each week, that’s a pretty brutal schedule. But it’s paying off. Forbes recently named Bashir one of the top 30 Under 30 in the tech sector to watch.

And when it comes to her personal style, which has been recognized as one of the best in Silicon Valley, for Bashir it’s all about bright colors, bold prints and exquisite detail. She attributes her taste for color to her strict upbringing in a patriarchal and strict Pakistani-British community, where everything about a woman’s life is controlled by the men around her. From her killer dresses to her killer business instinct, Bashir is clearly a woman in control of her own destiny these days.
