Though the celebrations are already fading into a winter twilight, there was a right royal knees-up this Diamond Jubilee summer.

The Queen loves Scotland, her mother’s ancestral home, and this is reflected in this winter’s trend for tartan kilts worn by women. They can be long or short but they’re very now. The heritage appeal of traditional woollen fabrics like tweeds and herringbone appears in classic coats, capes and hats. Riding Boots
To continue with the classy country look, invest in a fabulous pair of knee- high riding boots. This length of boot does not restrict your knees and does not take ages to put on (unless criss-crossed with endless laces, which is more Victorian Goth, and frankly, if there’s no side zip, who has time?) Your legs will look sensational in knee-high boots — and let’s face it, if you’re still not sure, half your legs are covered up already. If you’re too cold to team boots with a short skirt, then wear a knee- length woollen kilt or coat and leave them all guessing! Riding boots, like this classic pair from Marks and Spencer also look fab with skinny trousers or leggings tucked in. In the bleak mid- winter, your feet (and legs) will be warm and dry.
Lavish opulence in metallic brocade
There’s also a big revival in brocade fabrics. Gold and silver highlights in paisley, tapestry and clingy stretch fabric are just fit for a queen — or a would-be princess. This opulent look is ideal for Christmas and New Year parties, shown off in gorgeous frocks or skinny-fit trousers and leggings. Just wear leather
Leather’s in this season (when is it out?) and whether you couple a vintage biker jacket with a cable knit sweater or team the sweater with a black beret, tight leather leggings and Chelsea ankle boots, you can wear this look with confidence. Either real or faux, leather wears well, it keeps you dry and it looks sexy yet quirky — what more do you want? Leather is fabulous, even when it never saw a cow.
