Ingredients:
- 2 cups of stock for flavouring — beef or chicken works well, alternatively use 2 tablespoons of Vegemite dissolved into 2 cups of hot water
- 1 cup of plain flour
- 1 cup of rolled oats
- 2 cups of wholemeal flour
- 1/2 cup of milk powder
- 7-gram sachet of yeast
- Additional water if necessary
Directions:
- Place all dry ingredients into a large bowl.
- Slowly add liquid, mixing it in well.
- Use additional water if neccessary to get the dough mixture feeling right. It should feel moist and firm but not sticky.
- Once the dough is roughly mixed, remove it from the bowl onto a floured surface.
- Knead the dough for five minutes until texture is smooth.
- Roll out into an even layer and cut shapes using a knife or cookie cutter.
- Place treats in a single layer on a tray lined with baking paper and sit aside for half an hour to rise slightly.
- Once finished, place the tray into an oven at 170 degrees C and bake for one hour.
- Leave overnight to set and store in an airtight container.
