Must have it or skip it?

Blogger Tine of Beautyholics Anonymous was asked to test out and review one of Aldi’s skin care products, Lacura Multi Intensive Serum. Find out what she thought about this budget-friendly product.

Beautyholics Anonymous weighs in

I’m an avid shopper at Aldi. Seriously, cheaper groceries by at least 30 per cent? Oh yeah, I’m on it. Now Aldi groceries may be cheap, but the quality is actually not bad. I’ve tried a couple of their Lacura Beauty (Aldi’s brand of cosmetics) blushes and they are good! There’s no quality versus price debate there; I was impressed!

Lacura Multi Intensive Serum

When I was given the opportunity to try out an item from their skin care range, I was eager to jump on board. The Multi Intensive Serum sounds like an interesting product and I’m always keen to find the perfect serum for my skin, so why not?

What she loved

The serum is a lightweight lotion which absorbs quickly onto the skin. For a grocery store brand, it actually feels quite luxurious to the touch. It’s something you’d expect out of high-end serums.

I used the serum during the day and night. Even though it’s not the sort of serum that brightens or exfoliates the skin, it gives it plenty of hydration that sustains throughout the day and night. A tip: Allow the serum to soak into the skin first before slapping your moisturiser on. Don’t worry, it absorbs very quickly so you don’t have to wait long anyway, especially if you’re rushed for time in the morning.

What she didn’t love

The only complaint I have about the serum is that it’s quite heavily fragranced. The floral scent can be pretty strong so if you’re not keen on fragranced skin care; this is something to take note of. It might also not be hydrating enough for very dry skin. If you have combination skin like me, this will work just fine.

Lacura Multi Intensive Serum retails at $9.99 for 50 millilitres and is available at all Aldi stores nationally. A good hydrating serum for under a tenner? How the heck is that even possible?!
