Signs you’re an alpha woman

You’ve heard the term alpha female bandied about and always thought it applied to women who were bossy and high maintenance. However, that’s not always the case. Find out if you are a true alpha woman.

Every woman exhibits some alpha female traits, but whether or not you are a true alpha woman depends on if you can answer yes to at least half of the following questions.

1

Are you self-assured?

You trust your own judgement and don’t need to seek reassurance or approval from anyone else. However, some people may mistake your self-assuredness as arrogance or being overly aloof.

2

Are you hard-working?

The thought of having unproductive time where you just chill out and do nothing would drive you to the brink of insanity. You have to be kept constantly busy and if there’s nothing to do, you’ll make work for yourself.

3

Are you a lone wolf?

Being in a relationship makes you feel claustrophobic if you don’t have enough alone time or room to breathe.

4

Do you take charge in your relationship?

While it might be a fairly equal relationship, you tend to be the major decision-maker and your partner respects and values your decisions.

5

Are you feisty?

You’re not scared of confrontation. Whether someone is wrong or disagrees with an opinion, you’re certainly not backwards in coming forward.

6

Are you goal-focused?

You have a 10-year plan and you put your head down and your bum up to make your dreams a reality, even if you have to make a few sacrifices along the way.

Are you sexually aggressive?

You’re a lady who knows what she wants, particularly in the hanky panky department. You’re not above dishing out instructions or telling your partner where they are going wrong. When it’s all over, you don’t care if there’s no cuddling time, you’d much rather have your sleep.

8

Are you fussy?

You are a perfectionist. You expect nothing but the best from yourself and those around you. Others may fail to live up to your high standards, which can be a constant source of frustration.

9

Your maternal instincts don’t match the typical stereotype

You don’t think that having children means giving up your career. Even if you decide to stay at home with your children, you come up with inventive ways to keep yourself busy and on track with your career goals. In fact, you may start an entirely new career which allows you the best of both worlds.

10

Do you have a low tolerance for cheesy romance?

The famously-touching speech in the 1996 movie Jerry Maguire, where Tom Cruise blurts out “You complete me,” makes you throw up just a little bit in your mouth. You don’t need a man to complete you. You’re not anti-relationships, you just don’t constantly need to be in one.

11

Are you self-sufficient?

On dates, you prefer to split the bill evenly. You have no problem paying for your share; that way, you don’t owe anyone anything. You are quite satisfied going to the cinema alone or even taking a holiday all by yourself.

12

Are you over-committed?

Being very career-focused and an extrovert means you struggle to have downtime. Between your work and your social engagements, your friends have to book you months in advance because your calendar is always full of events.

13

Are you fiercely protective?

If anyone messes with your family or friends, you are like a lioness. You’ll stalk your prey and then tear them limb from limb.

14

Does your music taste include empowering “I am woman, hear me roar” kind of songs?

Your iPod playlist is made up of songs like Katy Perry’s “Roar”, Alicia Keys’ “Girl on Fire”, The Pussycat Dolls’ “I Don’t Need A Man” and “Titanium” by David Guetta and Sia.

15

Are you always on the go?

If you’re an alpha woman with a high-powered career, you are the type to always be the first to volunteer for the extra responsibilities. If you’re a stay-at-home mum, you’re a mum who has the the household running like a well-oiled engine.
