From Gin & Juice and Cool Water cologne to anti-gun activist, Snoop Dogg is throwing his support behind the #ImUnloading campaign to get people to demand their 401(k) investment portfolio not include gun companies or any other company that profits from gun violence in America.
Who better than Snoop “Murder Was the Case that They Gave Me” Dogg to talk about the impact of gun violence on American lives? Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, and his bodyguard were acquitted of murder in 1996.
Snoop has even made a video for the campaign, in which he sits holding an #ImUnloading sign and talks frankly about his own experience with guns.
“How I’ve been affected by gun violence over the years is through the deaths of friends and family members and associates,” he says in the video. “I’m unloading for the loved ones I lost.”
This isn’t Snoop Dogg’s first statement against gun violence. Last year he released the anti-gun themed song “No Guns Allowed.”
According to the Campaign to Unload spokesperson Jennifer Fiore, Snoop is the one who approached the organization about getting involved.
“It’s helping bring awareness to a lot of people who have no idea of the economic power they have to affect this debate on gun violence.”
While the video doesn’t name any specific stocks to unload from your investment portfolio, CNN Money points out the two most high-profile gun stocks are Smith & Wesson and Sturm, Ruger.
