Oprah Winfrey just announced she’s ditching Chicago for Hollywood, and everything must go. But this is no ordinary weekend yard sale.
Mama O will be auctioning off some of her incredible Water Tower apartment art, collectibles, silver and clothing on April 25, it was just announced, so naturally, we couldn’t wait to get a glimpse of some of her treasures — and she sure did deliver.
Unsurprisingly, Oprah, along with being one of the world’s most rich, powerful and famous women, has an eye for collecting.
“I have long revered Ms. Winfrey as a collector. I once met with Ms. Winfrey in 2003, and we discussed my perspectives and advice regarding collecting,” Leslie Hindman, whose auction house will handle the sale of the items, said. “It was immediately evident that she had extensive market knowledge and had made it a priority to form relationships with dealers, collectors and industry contacts to make informed decisions regarding acquisitions.”
The proceeds from the auction will benefit the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa. Take a look at some of the incredible stuff she’s collected over the years, and start saving for the April 25 auction. We don’t know how much these items will ultimately sell for, but it’s probably safe to say you’re going to need a pretty fat wallet to score any of this swag.
