5 Ideas for the next Cards Against Humanity charity pack

Cards Against Humanity, the raunchy party game, did something seriously cool this week and released a new “Science Pack” to raise scholarship money for women and girls who want to pursue careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering and science).

Bra-freaking-vo! Go buy a Cards Against Humanity Science Pack for 10 bucks.

This isn’t the first time Cards Against Humanity has raised money by releasing a “charity pack.” In fact, the company has raised more than $2 million to date for charities, including Wikimedia Foundation, the Sunlight Foundation and DonorsChoose.org.

Since Cards Against Humanity is so good at raising money for great causes, we wanted to suggest a few new charity packs for them to consider.

1. Clean Water Packs

One in 9 people on the planet lacks access to clean water. And with extended drought conditions becoming the new norm, even those in the U.S. are likely to face skyrocketing water costs as supplies become increasingly scarce. How about a charity pack to raise money for organizations like Matt Damon’s Water.org or Charity: Water.

2. Body Positive Packs

Everyone — not just young girls — is subject to a constant barrage of messages that whatever it is your body looks like, rest assured it’s hideous. When even men are wearing Spanx, you know things have gone too far. How about a charity pack that celebrates what human bodies really look like, and donate proceeds to charities like The Body Positive? We all could use a healthy dose of body reality.

3. LGBT Teen Love Packs

LGBT youth face frightening statistics for suicide, drug use and other destructive behaviors. It’s not easy to break down barriers, especially as a teenager. Why not create a Cards Against Humanity pack focused on LGBT issues, with proceeds benefiting the It Gets Better or the Trevor Project?

4. Stop Violence Against Women Pack

From India to Iraq, the South Sudan and Las Vegas to American college campuses, violence against women is at an all-time high. In fact, according to the United Nations, 1 in 3 women worldwide has experienced physical violence in her lifetime. And a heartbreaking 1 in 10 girls under the age of 18 is forced to have sex against her will. Cards Against Humanity could raise money for charities like VDay, which works to stop violence against women worldwide.

5. Equal Pay Pack

Let’s go over the stats one more time: Women earn about 77 cents for every dollar a man earns, and 40 percent of all households with children rely on a woman as a sole or primary earner. This isn’t just a chick issue — it’s an economic issue for households all over the U.S. Cards Against Humanity could produce a pack celebrating the business and professional accomplishments of women, with proceeds going to benefit organizations like the National Women’s Law Center or the National Organization for Women.
