Hungry man calls 911 & gets shocking response

Clarence Blackmon was hungry, had no food and didn’t know what else to do. So he called 911. What happened next will make you cry.

You see, Blackmon wasn’t calling as a prank; his wasn’t one of those ridiculous stories we’ve all heard of people wasting emergency operators’ time with ridiculous requests. According to WTVD, he actually desperately needed food, and it was an emergency.

At 81 years old, the Fayetteville, North Carolina, man had just gotten out of the hospital after spending months there for cancer treatment. He returned home weak, weighing just 115 pounds, and without a way to get food. So he asked for help by calling 911.

Instead of scolding him for abusing the emergency line, or just offering him some referrals, the 911 operator, Marilyn Hinson, told him help would be on the way. She went to the store, got some groceries, and along with police delivered them right to Blackmon’s door, who ate with delight.

Blackmon called the response he got a miracle. He told WTVD, “I thought, ‘Jesus, you answered those prayers.'”

It’s such an amazing example of human kindness, of people willing to go above and beyond the call of duty. It’s also, however, a sad reminder of how many elderly and sick people there are out there who are all alone with little or no support. Thankfully Blackmon has care lined up from here on out, but so many don’t, and calling 911 isn’t going to answer all of their prayers.
