Functional storage doesn’t have to be boring. Turn your shelving into a work of art with geometric shelves you can build yourself.
Supplies:
- Pinewood boards
- Saw
- Nail gun or hammer and nails
- Stainable wood filler
- Sandpaper
- Paintbrush
- Paint pads
- Wood stain
- Paint
- Picture hanging brackets
Directions:
1. Cut the wood
Cut the wood with a 30-degree angle on both ends of each piece of wood. Cut 6 pieces of wood that are all the same length.
2. Put it together
Nail the 6 sides of the hexagon together using a nail gun or a hammer and nails.
3. Fill the gaps
Use stainable wood filler to fill in any gaps between the pieces of wood.
4. Sand it down
Use a piece of sandpaper to sand down the wood filler until the surface is smooth.
5. Stain the wood
Grab your paintbrush and add a coat of wood stain to the front and sides of the wood.
6. Paint the inside
Paint the inside of the shelf. Using the paint pad, carefully paint along the inside edge of the shelf without getting any paint on the front of the shelf.
7. Add a hanging bracket
Nail a large picture hanging bracket onto the backside of the shelf.
8. Hang it up
Now your new geometric shelf is ready to hang on the wall and decorate.
