A mystery woman dropped off boxes full of junk at a Northern California recycling plant, and what was found inside is completely amazing — one of the original Apple desktop computers.
In fact, the rare, old computer is one of only 200 first-generation Apple desktop computers and was assembled personally by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ron Wayne in 1976. The recycling center was able to sell the computer to a collector for a reported $200,000. It’s trying to track her down to split the money with her.
The woman dropped off two boxes of old electronics she collected from cleaning out her garage in April. She told the people at the recycling center her husband had recently died.
“She said, ‘I want to get rid of this stuff and clean up my garage,'” Victor Gichun, vice president of Clean Bay Area, told theSan Jose Mercury News. “I said, ‘Do you need a tax receipt?’ and she said, ‘No, I don’t need anything.'”
Gichun adds he’s ready to give her half of the proceeds from the sale of the computer: $100,000.
“To prove who she is,” Gichun said, “I just need to look at her.”
