If you were to look in my purse, you would find 14 gum wrappers and a day planner from 2012.
This, my friends, is not the way it should be done. Stock your purse with the following necessities so you can keep calm and organized, no matter what life throws in your direction.
1. Deo for the B.O.
Keep your pits in tip-top shape with some backup deodorant — particularly if your brand begins to fail after 12 hours and you need to make it to an impromptu happy hour.
2. Baby wipes for a quick clean
Need to re-do your makeup? Spilled guacamole on your pants? Baby wipes should help, at least a little bit.
3. A few bandages
Paper cuts? Heel blisters? Accidental stabbing while whittling a radish rose for a dinner party? Mistakes happen — and when they do, you’ll definitely want some Nexcare bandages to keep your cuts clean and protected.
4. Hand sanitizer
Germs are everywhere so make sure you have some sanitizer on hand when you don’t have access to soap and water.
5. Portable external battery charger
Your phone is a lifeline, so keep that bad boy charged up while you’re on the go with a portable charger.
6. Cash
I once went on a trip abroad with no cash. What on earth was I thinking? Cash is a necessary commodity if you find yourself in a pinch, so don’t leave home without it in your purse.
7. A compact mirror
It’s not cool to ask a date if you have spinach in your teeth. Take responsibility for your appearance by carrying a compact mirror and checking on the status of your nostrils and lipstick for yourself, like the independent woman that you are.
8. Floss, for “corn on the cob Friday”
Wait, do you not have a “corn on the cob Friday”? No matter. Everyone needs the tooth-rescuing power of dental floss from time to time.
9. Diminutive mints
You don’t exactly look sophisticated when you’re walking around chomping on gum. Get you some diminutive, sexy mints. You will look so much more grown up.
10. Safety pins for wardrobe malfunctions
No one will ever know that three buttons have already fallen off of your shirt.
11. Fabulous sunglasses
Giant sunglasses are a must-have for sun protection, and they can take any outfit to the next level.
12. Bombshell lipstick
If you are going to bring one makeup item in your purse, make it a bombshell shade of lipstick. A quick swipe is all you need to fool anyone into thinking you tried really hard.
13. Hair spray and hair ties
Hair spray can certainly build volume, but it also soaks up excess oil at the end of a long day. Pair the spray with a couple of swagged-out hair ties, and your casual updo will look stunning.
It’s definitely time for me to reorganize my purse with all of these items — better write it in my day planner.
