Yes, Kim Zolciak tends to endorse a ton of products on Instagram, but her recent plug of a relatively new skin treatment may be worth a closer look.
It’s called Coolaser, and it’s a laser treatment that was developed at a dermatology center in Los Angeles called Epione. Similar to microdermabrasion, the treatment is meant to shrink wrinkles and even out skin tone that may be plagued by sun spots and blemishes. And of course, Kim goes directly to the doctor who created it — Dr. Simon Ourian. She was nice enough to act as demonstrator for others who might be curious about the procedure. Check out the video of her experience below.

Looks pretty simple and painless, right? Well, according to the website, it’s no big deal at all. The procedure takes only 10 to 15 minutes to complete and feels akin to getting a sunburn on your face. They do offer pain meds if you aren’t into feeling the burn (literally), but many patients refuse them because, in the general scheme of skin treatments, it’s not that bad of a sensation. They also say the discomfort level will vary depending on where you’re getting the treatment and the extensiveness of the area.

How it works
The Coolaser is designed to take a very small layer of your skin (a 10-millionth of an inch) off your face. Here’s how they describe what’s actually happening to your skin during the procedure: “A special device is used to cool the entire surface of the skin, and then a series of light pulses are flashed on to the skin’s surface. The energy of light is then absorbed by the skin cells, with the absorption resulting in the instantaneous vaporization of the superficial cell.”
Confused? Me too. Basically they’re saying the laser pulses kill off dead cells so that new, younger cells can take their place, literally refreshing your skin. If you have an image of Samantha’s chemical peel on Sex and the City, I’d say you’re not far off.
There will likely be some redness, swelling and perhaps even a slight change in your skin’s pigment, but all should be temporary. Downtime is about one to five days, but they say you should wait a week before doing any really strenuous activities. It can, however, take up to three weeks for the redness to totally dissipate, so if you have a big function coming up, you probably should wait on this one. Unfortunately Samantha learned that lesson the hard way.

In the end, you should still look like yourself, just a refreshed, younger version of yourself, especially if you get your whole face done. So far people are loving the results, but they definitely don’t come cheap. If you want to experience the Coolaser at the same place where Kim goes, you’ll need to shell out an average of $3,900. However, it could be closer to $2,000 if you want a more subtle effect.
