Finally the August long weekend is here, and there’s definitely no shortage of things to do: from seeing Drake in concert to indulging in delicious American cuisine, there are six events you definitely don’t want to miss.

OVO Fest
When: Aug. 1 to Aug. 3
Put on your dancing shoes, and head over to OVO Fest at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre, where you can watch Drake belt out his rhymes on Monday, Aug. 3 and J. Cole on Sunday, Aug. 2. Other artists in this year’s lineup include Big Sean, YG, Cozz and Omen. But hurry, because the event is so popular you might find it hard to get tickets.
VELD Music Festival
When: Aug. 1 to Aug. 2
If electronic dance music is your scene, then you need to be at Downsview Park this weekend to enjoy the two-day VELD Music Festival. Deadmau5 and Hardwell headline the event this year, but there are plenty of other artists to get you grooving, including Steve Aoki, Nicky Romero and Markus Schulz.
Come rain or shine, this is bound to be one event that’s not to be missed.

Pan American Food Festival
When: July 30 to Aug. 3
The August long weekend is a great time for concert lovers, but it’s also a wonderful time to enjoy good company and even better food. If you’re a foodie, then you’ll love the Pan American Food Festival. Held at Daniels Spectrum, the festival offers you the opportunity to sample cuisine from across South, North and Central America as well as the Caribbean. And there’s also music, dancing and art.
Scarborough Ribfest
When: July 31 to Aug. 3
Or perhaps a good barbecue in the summer sunshine is what you’re really after? Head to Thomson Memorial Park, and enjoy the delicious grilled food and live entertainment — including daily karaoke competitions.

Caribana
When: July 30 to Aug. 2
This year marks Caribana’s 47th year, and there’s a reason for the festival’s longevity. Caribana celebrates Caribbean culture and traditions, with one of the highlights being the Caribana Grand Parade.
