It’s Wednesday, but we’ll spare you the “hump day” jokes. Instead, help yourself to a bite-sized sampling of today’s trending news. Here are the top stories everyone will be talking about:
1. Trump, you’re fired
Presidential hopeful Donald Trump booted a Univision reporter from his press conference yesterday. The reason? The man was doing his job as a journalist and asking questions. He asked Trump about his immigration proposal, which includes a constitutional amendment to end automatic U.S. citizenship for infants born to undocumented immigrants. Trump interrupted him, repeatedly yelling at him to sit down before finally shouting “go back to Univision” and having him removed. The reporter was later allowed back in, but the confrontation enraged the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. Univision is also the leading Spanish-language network in the country, so Trump is alienating huge numbers of people at record speed. — USA Today

2. You’re outta there
Baseball analyst Curt Schilling was suspended by ESPN yesterday after a groan-inducing tweet that compared Muslims to Nazis. The tweet was a re-post of a meme that read: “It’s said that only 5-10% of Muslims are extremists. In 1940, only 7% of Germans were Nazis. How’d that go?” The text was superimposed on a photo of Adolf Hitler, and Schilling even added his own commentary, saying, “The math is staggering when you get to the true #s.” ESPN acted quickly, pulling Schilling from his post covering the Little League World Series. The former Major League pitcher says he understands and accepts his suspension. Let’s hope he also understands how wrong that comparison was. — CNN
3. That’s not seaweed
Hawaii’s famous Waikiki Beach has something unexpected clouding the crystal waters. Tourists were warned to avoid taking a swim yesterday because heavy rains contaminated the coast with 500,000 gallons of raw sewage. Apparently people were propping manhole covers open to prevent their homes and cars from flooding after storm drains backed up. The influx of water overwhelmed the sewage system and caused the spill. Waikiki is famous for its white sand beaches and is a staple of Hawaiian tourism, but right now it’s pretty much just a big toilet bowl. — NBC News

4. Well, this is heartbreaking
Marcy Borders, the dust-covered woman who appeared in a famous photograph from the 9/11 terror attacks, has died of stomach cancer. The 42-year-old became known as “the dust lady” after a photographer for a French news agency snapped a photo of her fleeing 1 World Trade Center covered in a thick layer of ash. Borders wondered if her cancer was linked to that event. In the years following the World Trade Center attacks, thousands of first responders and survivors have been diagnosed with various forms of cancer and other health problems. Despite her untimely passing, Borders will always be remembered as a survivor. — The Guardian
5. Om nom nom
How do we know fall is coming? Because Ben & Jerry’s announced yesterday that they’re bringing back their beloved pumpkin cheesecake ice cream. The limited edition flavor features real pumpkin and has a delicious graham cracker swirl. Ben & Jerry’s has yet to confirm a release date, but keep an eye on your local supermarket. Fall won’t actually start for a while, but there’s no wrong time to eat ice cream. — Refinery29

6. The dog days of summer
A new internet address — dot dog (.dog) — debuts today, just in time for National Dog Day. Did you know there was a National Dog Day? Neither did I. The “dot dog” address is expected to be used by pet photographers, groomers, trainers and pet supply stores. Fun fact: “dot cat” (.cat) has been available for use in web addresses since 2005 but instead of directing you to Grumpy Cat fan sites, the extension takes you to real websites in Catalan, a language used on the East Iberian Peninsula. Cat enthusiasts are understandably upset about this, but I say let the dogs have their fun. If cats wanted a fancy domain, they’d have one. We all know they secretly run the world. — USA Today
