According to a new report from ITV, the Danish company has enjoyed a surge of popularity recently, partly thanks to projects like The Lego Movie. But the demand for LEGO is so great this year that there is now an expected shortage of those nifty little bricks.

Yes, we feel like we’ve just been sucker-punched like that, too. What can we possibly put in our stockings now?

LEGO factories are running full steam ahead trying to keep up with the increased demand, and recover from their failure to forecast it, but, according to ITV, some children may not be able to get their hands on their favourite multicoloured plastic this festive season — so we’re going to start stocking up now.

In the first half of this year alone the company’s sales unexpectedly grew by a whopping 18 percent.

“We will not be able to deliver all of the orders coming from customers in the remainder of the year,” LEGO spokesman Roar Trangbaek said in a statement. “It is really extraordinary and it has exceeded both ours and our customers’ forecasts.”

The company has reportedly previously experienced supply difficulties in places like Canada but this year it is expected to affect various parts of Europe.

So kids, when your LEGO is missing from your stocking this year it might just be invisible — kinda like this jet.
