By now you’ve probably seen the horrific video of a South Carolina cop manhandling a female student in the middle of her high school classroom. Well, yesterday the Justice Department opened up a civil rights investigation into what happened. The sheriff’s department is also expected to announce today whether or not the officer will keep his job. Things aren’t looking good for this guy, and he deserves every bit of punishment he gets. — ABC News
3. Say what?
Last week, the South By Southwest festival announced it would host two panels on Gamergate and harassment in the gaming community. This week, they canceled those panels due to threats of violence and harassment. In other words, they canceled panels on digital harassment because they experienced some digital harassment of their very own. Many are mad about the decision. In fact, BuzzFeed and Vox have threatened to pull out of the festival altogether. If anything, threats are a sign of how much these panels are needed. — NBC News

4. Baseball drama
Last night the Kansas City Royals won game one of the World Series with a dramatic walkoff homerun in the 14th inning. The game proved a rollercoaster ride for a number of reasons. Prior to the start, Royals pitcher Edinson Volquez’s father died, there was a Google Fiber outage that made people in Kansas City lose coverage of the game, and the Royals were losing until a run tied it up in the last inning. Alas, there’s no rest for the weary. Game two is on tonight at 7:07 p.m. on Fox. — ESPN
5. Oops
A pair of janitors at a museum in Bolanzo, Italy, accidentally threw away a contemporary art installation. The piece was called “Where Are We Going To Dance Tonight?” and featured empty Champagne bottles, cigarette butts, confetti and a disco ball. Museum officials say they’ll probably be able to restore it because the janitors were nice enough to sort everything into recycling. Way to go, guys! — Huffington Post

Walmart is the latest company to test out delivery by drone. The retailer has applied for permission to test drones for home delivery and curbside pickup. Amazon and Google are already testing drones for home deliveries, though polls show the majority of Americans aren’t on board with the idea. A Walmart spokesman says there’s a Walmart within a five-mile radius of 70 percent of the U.S., so drone usage would quickly become widespread if Walmart gets the go-ahead. — NPR
7. Well, that’s weird
Mastercard has partnered with Adam Selman and others to design wearable payment devices. They’re imagining a world without wallets or credit cards, in which anything can be a method of payment. So far, they’ve got an experimental line of clothing and accessories, a special keyfob, a device that looks like a FitBit band and Ringly — a smart ring that works with Mastercard payment systems. Right now they’re just creating examples to show off at tech fests, but the idea is for these devices to become a reality. Someday you might be able to pay for groceries with the sleeve of your hoodie. That’s pretty crazy. — Yahoo
