For the many years I’ve been homeschooling, I’ve been inspired by the potential I’ve seen in my children and the children I’ve taught or tutored in co-ops.
I’ve also learned and grown in oh-so-many ways through that process, and it’s been both an enjoyable and exciting ride.
This has been a continuation of the conversations I’ve grown up with: teachers and adults around me encouraging my potential in piano and music, writing, learning, gardening, crafting and a host of other interests I’ve either dabbled in or pursued with a passion — little of which I developed, for a myriad of reasons.
But ya’ know what? I’m tired of living in my “potential.”
Here’s what I mean:
- Dreaming of and thinking about what I could do…
- Imagining what would happen if only I…
- Studying and planning and learning so that I can…
So this morning, I made a decision. I’m quitting. I’m no longer living in my potential. Starting today, I’m taking action.
This article is a start; it’s my personal call for accountability. Please consider it an invitation for you to accept the role of my accountability partner. (Yes, all gazillion of you who are reading this!)
My action plan:
- I’m writing the course outlines that have been rolling around in my head.
- I’m downloading the images I need to create amazing graphics to go along with them.
- I’m making the phone call to the videographer that I’ve had on my “to-do” list.
- I’m sending invitations to other bloggers to get a partnership conversation started.
- I’m calling my local banker and making an appointment to talk to him about sponsorship for these endeavors.
No, of course I won’t get all these finished today. I still have to chauffer the kids around to classes, work, activities and birthday parties. I still have to get caught up — or attempt to, at least — with the laundry, offer some much-needed TLC to the bathroom and kitchen, and food needs to be shopped for, put away and then meals prepared. I’m sure there’s something else I’m forgetting.
But I’m putting my best foot forward and heading towards the door — so to speak!
What about you?
What have you been waiting to do that’s kept you spinning your wheels? What’s the potential living inside you — and what do you have to do to “just quit” hiding out in there, and begin to move forward?
Sharing one of your “potentials” with someone is a great way to invite encouragement and accountability! Find someone — today — and commit to taking that first step…
Living out your potential is for those who, like me, are tired of being stuck living inside it!
