5 Ways to tastefully rock glitter makeup as an adult

Come New Year’s Eve, it can be tempting to just douse yourself in glitter and call it festive. However, glitter doesn’t have to be a ho-ho-hot mess. It can be worn in a variety of tasteful ways from subtle to super sparkling. Here are five ways to rock glitter this holiday season that are both age appropriate and won’t leave a trail wherever you go.

1. Double liner

Add a gilded line on top of your usual gel or liquid liner for an extra sparkling layer! This is easy to do as you need to only trace your existing line. Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner works great for this.

2. Lower lash line love

Shift your sparkle to the lower lash line and try a colored glitter for a little extra punch. This is super simple to do. Just make sure you do it before mascara as you can get the glitter on your lower lashes.

3. Inner corner pop

For just a touch of sparkle in the right spot, pop a silver glitter liner on the inner corners only. This attracts and reflects light for a subtle but very flattering holiday look.

4. Center lid

Proceed with your usual smoky eye, then dab a spot of glitter only in the very center of the lid. This will draw attention to your iris when your eyes are open and provide just a peek of glitter instead of overwhelming your eye. I love this in purple, navy or bronze.

5. Cupid’s bow sparkle

Full-on glitter lips simply aren’t practical for all the sipping, snacking and smooching you’ll be doing. By accenting just the cupid’s bow with a pale gold, you still get the visual interest and an element of surprise without the gritty lips. Gold looks especially pretty with a cranberry lip. Think of it as a very fancy glitter mustache!
