Hit the snooze button one too many times this morning? That’s OK, because we’ve got you covered on all the morning news you missed. Here are the top stories everyone will be talking about:
1. Trump is dangerous
Over the weekend, a Black Lives Matter activist was repeatedly kicked and punched by Trump supporters after he spoke out at a campaign rally in Birmingham, Alabama. The assault happened as Trump looked on from the stage, and later Trump said, “Maybe he should’ve been roughed up, because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing.” Trump is viewed by many as the comedic relief of the campaign, but he continues to lead in the polls, and his problematic and dangerous beliefs are no laughing matter anymore. — Washington Post

2. Grumpy cat to the rescue
Belgium Prime Minister Charles Michel issued the highest terrorist threat alert level in his country this weekend after a suspicious package led to the full evacuation of a train station in Brussels. The package turned out to be nothing, but the city has been on lockdown for most of the past few days. People began tweeting about the lockdown using #BrusselsLockdown, but police asked them to stop as it revealed too much about police whereabouts and activity. In response, people are flooding the hashtag with hilarious cat photos to “throw off” any suspects. Hey, it’s been a rough few weeks — most of the world will take any excuse to have a good laugh. — The Guardian
3. More senseless gun violence
At least 16 people were injured in a playground shooting in New Orleans yesterday. Several hundred people had gathered to shoot a music video when a fight broke out between two groups of people. They began firing at one another and into the crowd, but luckily no one was killed. Police are reviewing surveillance video and searching for the suspects, who took off on foot as soon as the fight ended. Hopefully all of those injured will make a full recovery. — CNN

4. Horrifying
A massive landslide in Myanmar killed at least 100 people on Saturday when it collapsed on a community of migrant jade miners. The landslide was made up of a 200-foot high pile of mining debris, but it’s unknown why it collapsed. More than 100 people are still missing and the Red Cross has arrived to aid in the rescue efforts. Most foreigners are not allowed in the area, so updates have been scarce and it’s been difficult for groups to render aid. — BBC
5. It’s complicated
Facebook is testing out a tool that might mend your achy-breaky heart. The new tool will allow heartbroken users to limit what updates they see from former partners without having to unfollow, block or unfriend them. It can also limit what your exes see from you. The breakup tool will roll out Thursday on mobile devices in the U.S. If that test run is successful, they’ll extend the tool to the rest of their 1.5 billion users worldwide. — CBS Local

6. Coffee for a cause
Starbucks has committed to opening new stores in low-income neighborhoods, with the goal of supporting economic and social change. They’ll open 15 locations in five cities, including Ferguson, Missouri, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In a statement, the company says they’re looking for communities with large opportunity gaps. They’re also leading a movement by a coalition of companies to provide jobs for 100,000 at-risk youth by 2018. Good job, Starbucks. — Refinery29
