12 Gifts for the trendy Gen X-er

9. Make your own macaron kit

Every generation has their food trends. Gen Xers had Tasti D-Lite (as seen on Sex and the City), your mom had Jell-O molds and the current generation has macarons. A French sweet meringue-based cookie-like thing in the cutest little colors like ballet slipper pink or cantaloupe orange. Making your own is the ultimate in sustainable cooking. (Uncommon Goods, $40)

10. 3D printing pen

Yes, you can print in 3D now. Don’t ask me how, just trust me that you can. Didn’t you see that episode of this season’s Project Runway when they created their own textiles using a 3D printer? It was cool — and so is this gift. (Hammacher, $100)

11. Turntable

You know all of those vinyl albums collecting dust in your mom’s basement? You have threatened to sell them on e-Bay or find some collector to buy them from you; but trust me, I tried that. You won’t get very much for them. You are better off taking your Queen picture discs and buying a turntable. Denon makes great equipment, but of course there are others at every price point. (Denon, $149)

12. Caffeinated peanut butter

According to its website, STEEM is “designed to provide a consistent release of sustained energy and the naturally slow digestion of peanut butter is the key to that.” It has protein, electrolytes, and caffeine, “granting you hours of endurance and focus, and freeing you from distractions like hunger and fatigue.” (STEEM, $6)

Whatever you decide to buy, I hope you and your graphic tee and beanie hat have a happy holiday!
