Tube passenger launches into astonishing sexist rant after missing train

We’ve heard some pretty unbelievable responses to feminism but trying to stop women using public transport is a whole new level of crazy.

For one male commuter on the London Underground this week, however, the women’s liberation movement is to blame for him being late during rush hour.

He had a bit of a hissy fit on the platform at Stockwell station after a fellow (female) commuter inadvertently stopped him getting onto his train, according to the Standard.

Witness Abi Brookman revealed that the man, thought to be in his late 50s or early 60s, started having a go at the woman in front of him as he tried to board the train.

“The train was full,” she said. “Rather than just sighing he started having a go at her. She was a young woman, in her 20s, and she was standing up for herself. He was being very aggressive and demanding she apologise. Another woman started defending her and telling him to chill out because another Tube would be along in one minute. Then he started muttering under his breath ‘women’s lib’ repeatedly.”

When Brookman, 25, and other witness confronted him about his remark he shouted, “You heard me — you aren’t deaf. You should be home and not getting the Tube at all.”

“I’ve never been told I was like a lesser person like that before,” said Brookman. “But it made me realise that in his generation it probably happened to women all the time. It was so ridiculous, especially the old school use of ‘women’s lib’.”

It’s pretty hard to believe that people with such outdated, misogynistic views exist in 2015 — it’s just lucky for all us women who dare to go out in public that they are in the minority.
