As #TeamPitch has gotten to know the incredible women of the entrepreneurial world, we have only inherited a stronger drive to reach a more diverse community of women working in this space – and first and foremost, to offer them a platform to pitch their messages to a larger audience.
In that spirit, we are excited to announce our next foray into the startup world: #CampusPitch. This campaign will focus on a new generation of women: undergraduate college students.
Why college students?
College entrepreneurs are killing it.
As we stand currently, Generation Z is poised to become the most entrepreneurial generation of all time. According to a study done by Rasmussen College, 60% of millennials consider themselves “entrepreneurs – with ideas, capital, and plans laid out for ventures.” Beyond that, 63% of 20-somethings want to start their own business.
And colleges are taking note.
Almost every top university – to the tune of over 2,000 campuses, from Columbia to Babson – have caught onto the trend, offering dedicated entrepreneurship programs or majors to their students. Hot campus startups are springing up everywhere as a result. In the coming years, these young companies will burst into the marketplace. We are betting that they will make waves.
So, The Pitch and SheKnows Media are calling all female entrepreneurs to speak up and tell us about their inventions and endeavors.
#CampusPitch: The Contest
Any female innovator who is currently enrolled in college and is the founder or co-founder of an original business, whether it’s a social mission, a service or a product, is invited to submit a 30-second-or-less pitch video to our team. The idea is to sell us your business in a short, compelling format.
Submissions will be open until March 15, 2016.
5 finalists will be chosen by SheKnows executives and asked to join us in NYC to accept the following prizes:
- Trip to NYC in April 2016
- A day in the studio at SheKnows Media for a marketing workshop and filming of a professional Pitch video asset
- VIP tickets to WeFestival, premiere women’s entrepreneurship conference held at One World Trade Center on April 13th and 14th, 2016
College campuses are no longer isolated microcosms. Instead, they are windows into the shared global marketplace, waiting to be capitalized upon. Today’s students are the most keen to this truth – and we hope to bring some of their talent, perseverance and personality to light.
We look forward to meeting the visionaries and to helping them change the entrepreneurial landscape as we know it.
