I thought I lost my hermit crab until he turned up four years later… alive

3. They aren’t picky eaters

I don’t really remember what we fed Big Pete, although I’m sure it was mom-approved. However, another fun fact about hermit crabs is that they have a healthy appetite. Not in the sense that they eat a lot, but in that they’ll try just about anything. These little fellas are omnivores whose diet isn’t that different from a healthy human diet. They’ll eat fruits, vegetables, oatmeal, popcorn, crackers and even some meats, like tuna. (Note: The core of their diet should be commercial pet crab food.)
