Wayfair saves you from DIY hell with new service

If you dread the idea of climbing a ladder to change the lightbulbs on your chandeliers, fret no longer! Home goods retailer Wayfair is teaming up with Porch.com, a service retailer, to send local electricians to your home when you buy light fixtures online.

Wayfair currently offers the service in 15 markets, including Seattle, Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Charlotte, Houston, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Phoenix, Orlando, Denver, Austin, San Bernardino, California, and Raleigh. Don’t see your city listed? No worries — they plan to add 25 additional markets within a month.

It’s as easy as a few clicks:

  1. Browse Wayfair.com’s enormous selection of home goods and lighting fixtures.

  2. Look for the Porch logo on select products for a service estimate.

  3. Purchase the chandelier of your dreams, along with installation.

  4. Set up installation or assembly with Porch.com within 24 hours of purchase.

  5. Pay Porch.com for the installation only after you’re satisfied with the service.

The only downside is that the Porch service is not available for all of Wayfair’s products. So make sure the Porch installation is available before adding the product to their cart.

The Wayfair and Porch.com partnership is a great idea for those who want new lights without fussing with wires. The Porch.com technicians will even remove and dispose of your old light fixtures. And they offer furniture assembly and plumbing service for those who opt not to DIY. No more lopsided table legs or wobbly ceiling fans?
