10 dog breeds that can be dangerous without proper training

2. Shar-pei

The shar-pei is a deceptively “dangerous” dog breed. Most veterinary hospitals I have worked at keep them on their watch list, which means that staff always approach them with caution, as they have earned their reputation for unpredictability. Shar-peis can be loyal and affectionate pets, but they are also very independent, and owners often describe their behavior as cat-like. These highly intelligent dogs require patience to train, and their fiercely protective nature makes these medium-size dogs a poor and often dangerous choice for inexperienced dog owners.
