Though these big beauties can be a bit mischievous as pups, once they get through the adolescent stage they are super laid-back. In fact, it is this calm disposition that made them perfect for the draft work they were bred for — think pulling carts to market and driving cattle on the farm.

Thanks to their low energy level and lovable nature, the Bernese mountain dog is well suited for city living and definitely down for some serious R&R. However, because of their working dog nature, they do like being active outdoors sometimes, too.
