6. Pekingese
If you’re looking for a laid-back family dog, the Pekingese may not be the right choice for you — despite being laid-back and having low energy and exercise requirements, they simply might not be playful enough to satisfy small kids. Having said that, this breed has a ton of wonderful qualities, including a courageous personality (albeit pretty darn stubborn).
Once owned exclusively by royals, these dignified dogs adore curling up in their humans’ laps and snoozing the day away. Because of its heavy coat, it needs air conditioning during hot months. If you’re an apartment dweller, this attention-loving pup is a great choice.
