Turns out Kim Kardashian isn’t drinking the social media haterade after all

If you think Kim Kardashian sits home and cries over every mean comment someone makes about her online, think again. While she says she knows the hate is out there, and she used to concern herself with all the judgmental reactions to her social media posts — and let’s face it, she gets a lot of judgmental reactions — she no longer lets them affect her.

“I used to care about all of the comments. I would go out at night, I would come home and I’d look on the computer to see what they were writing and see what they were saying,” Kardashian recently told an audience at BlogHer16. “I think as you get older, you just mature. ”

She also credits part of her thick skin to her husband, Kanye West.

“I think I have such a great relationship, like me and my husband, that I feel so confident all the time,” she said. “I think that does help, at least that helps me. He gives me that extra push that, like, I have my family, I have my kids, I don’t need to sit at home — and I don’t have the extra time — to look at comments.”

Kardashian says doesn’t look for validation from social media posts.

“When I post something — whether it’s a nude selfie or something — I don’t post it to get a reaction, I post it because I like the photo,” she said. “So I’m not really looking at what the comments are. I think if you do something because you genuinely like it — no matter what it is — you shouldn’t look for that reaction to validate you. You can look for the reaction for fun or if you’re interested, but for validation, I don’t do that, so I don’t really get hurt by the comments.”
