Sainsbury’s
For Christmas 2016, Sainsbury’s gives “The Greatest Gift,” an animated ad full of colour and humour. James Corden is the voice of hard-working Dave, who concocts a plan to spend more time with his family over the festive season. Corden also sings the ad’s original song, “The Greatest Gift For Christmas Is Me,” which is guaranteed to be buzzing around in your head until Boxing Day.
Marks & Spencer
If there’s a great woman behind every great man, Santa Claus must have a pretty amazing lady, and this year’s Marks & Spencer advert pays tribute to the female force behind Santa Claus. Actress Janet McTeer plays the stylish, supportive, resourceful Mrs. Claus — who knows that a helicopter is a far more practical way of delivering presents than a sleigh — and her red-suited husband barely gets a look in.
Asda
Asda’s “Christmas Made Better” advert for 2016 features 26 individual festive moments showing nothing but pure, unadulterated festive joy. Our favourite has to be the adorable elderly couple wearing outrageously gaudy hats who decide that “there’s no such thing as too much.”
Aldi
Aldi’s Christmas ad features Kevin the Carrot, who has his own “The Night Before Christmas” adventure to try to meet Santa, giving us plenty of sweet moments and funny one-liners along the way. The best has to be, “Oh great!” when he falls against the grater.

Waitrose
Waitrose’s offering for this year is “Home For Christmas,” and it’s about a robin who returns to the U.K. to visit a little girl who is anxiously waiting for him. A white-knuckle ride ensues as the robin battles through storms, fends off predators and falls victim to a clumsy fisherman, but all ends happily as he makes it back in one piece and is rewarded with a mince pie and a touch of festive romance.
Lidl
Lidl have used their Christmas ad to deliver a message to any customers who might doubt the quality of their products. Featuring real-life customers, the advert shines the spotlight on the supermarket chain’s turkey farm, showing just how important high welfare standards are.
Argos
Argos have enlisted the help of 8-feet-tall, speed-skating yetis in eye-catching colours to deliver their Christmas advert for 2016. There’s nothing moving about this ad, which sees the neon yetis skate down an icy hill to deliver Christmas gifts to the soundtrack of “What’s This?” from The Nightmare Before Christmas. It’s crazy. It’s cheerful. It’s fabulous.
John Lewis
Undoubtedly the most hotly anticipated festive advert due to past successes like “Man On The Moon,” this year’s production from John Lewis features Buster the Boxer and several other four-legged creatures who are just as excited about one little girl’s Christmas gift as she is.
