The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team Is Getting Their Own Wheaties Box & You Better Snag One Fast

The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team (USWNT) winning the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup was a moment we won’t soon forget. And since they’ve returned to U.S. soil following their big win in France, the team has been deservedly showered with praise, recognition and even received a ticker tape parade in New York City. Now, the team can add “featured on a limited-edition Wheaties box” to their list.

Wheaties, in partnership with Serena Williams, who finally appeared on a Wheaties box last month, released a commemorative limited-edition box featuring the four-time world champion USWNT. The timing couldn’t be better, either, as the box will hit shelves as they kick off their Victory Tour this Saturday, Aug. 3.

“The USWNT captivated the world this summer. They impressed us all with their incredible accomplishments on the field—and their use of sports as a platform to inspire the next generation of girls,” says Serena Williams in a press release. “I believe a champion embodies a person in all aspects of their life and I am so proud to share my time on the Wheaties box with these amazing women who are doing just that. When we support each other and build each other up, we can do anything.”

We love everything about this special-edition Wheaties box.

Not only does each box sell for $23, a nod to the 23 women who make up the team, but 100 percent of proceeds will also be donated to organizations committed to empowering girls throughout sports. The two beneficiaries include Girls in the Game, which offers programs specifically for girls ages 7 to 18 that teach them leadership skills and healthy lifestyle choices and encourage them to be physically active; and the U.S. Soccer Girls Development Academy, which focuses on “positively impacting everyday club environments to assist in maximizing youth player development across the country,” the release states.

“It is beyond wonderful to see our team on the cover of the iconic Wheaties box,” says Becky Sauerbrunn, USWNT defender, in the release. “Not only is it an honor to have our team recognized amongst some of the world’s most renowned athletes, this highlights our 2019 world championship title as more than just a win for the sport of soccer, it supports our drive for women’s equality in all sports.”

Wheaties will only release 10,000 USWNT commemorative boxes on its website for a limited time while supplies last. Though the press release says the boxes will go on sale tomorrow, the shop is up and running today, so drop a box or two in your cart now before they sell out.
