A batch of fresh pasta can take any pasta recipe from good to great, and making fresh pasta at home is a pretty simple process. Those of us who make fresh pasta likely stick to the standard spaghetti, linguini, and fettuccini that you can make with a hand-crank or motorized pasta maker — but what happens when you’d prefer a penne, rigatoni, garganelli, or other bite-sized shape? Before you cave and stock up on boxes of store-bought pastas, check out Giada De Laurentiis‘ brand-new pasta tools kit that helps you achieve those detailed pasta shapes you’ve been missing.
“Up your fresh pasta game with our new Giadzy-exclusive pasta tools this holiday season,” the caption of a recent Giadzy post reads. “Whip up handmade pasta for your holiday guests or gift a set to a pasta lover!”
The 6-piece Pasta Tool Set from Giadzy comes with all the tools you need to add a dozen or more new shapes to your fresh pasta repertoire. As Liz from Giadzy shows, it’s easy to roll your dough into penne, gnocchi, and more.
The set comes with a double-sided ridged pasta board to help you create “rigate” pastas — those shapes that cling to sauces — as well as a custom bench scraper and four “mattarelli” (thin rolling pins) for forming tubed shapes in diameters ranging from a ¼ to 1 inch.
As the pasta tools set description reads, the largest mattarello can also be used to roll out dough for pies and cookies.

To use your new tools, you first cut your fresh pasta dough into thin squares, then roll it over a mattarelli across the pasta board for garganelli or rigatoni. “Roll small knobs of dough by hand over the side of the board with sharper ridges to make gnocchi, or over the columned side for trofie, capunti, and malloreddus,” the description reads. Let your shapes dry for a few hours before boiling, then serve with your favorite sauce.
If you haven’t yet tried making your own fresh pasta, you can follow De Laurentiis’ recipe here and then get creative with your shapes. There’s no wrong way to use your new tools to shape your dough, so feel free to experiment until you get a shape you love!
Pick up the Giadzy Pasta Tool Set for a pasta lover in your life and watch their imagination go wild.
