You know the feeling when you’re bundled up in your warmest down jacket to brave the bone-chilling cold that’s awaiting you on your walk from the house to the car…but as soon as you open the door, your legs are blasting with a gust of icy wind that nearly knocks you off your feet? Your poor, exposed legs: they bear the brunt of winter. If only they made puffer pants.
Well, actually they do. Alo’s Airbrush Winter Warm High-Waist Moto puffer pants are a godsend — but at $158, they’re also a budget-buster (not to mention sold out in most sizes). Other other hand, Target’s brilliant dupe, the JoyLab Quilted Puffer pants, are a cool $40. In case you’re wondering, ‘Do I need puffer pants?,’ the answer is yes. Yes you do. Need more incentive? They’re lined with fleece.

JoyLab Quilted Puffer Pants
These JoyLab puffer pants, part of Target’s new winter offerings, is a worthy competitor for Alo version, with horizontal quilting in the front made of super soft poplin with a polyester filling (warm, but not so warm you can’t pop your leggings on underneath). A comfy elastic waistband and ankle cuffs keep drafts out and body heat in, so you can stay toasty right down to your toes.
Like the Alo version, JoyLab’s pants have a drawstring for fit and pockets for running errands purse-free if need be. If ever there was a pair of errand-running pants, it’s this cozy pair that comes in black, cream or pink.
They’re so deliciously warm that they’ve earned a 4.7 overall star rating on Target, where shoppers are leaving the kind of reviews you only write when you’re over the moon about your latest score. “Like a warm hug,” one person wrote. “I love how just the front has the padding, so you can look more slim-lined overall and not excessively puffy. Also the inside is a super cozy fleece! Get these pants.” The shopper paired her JoyLab Quilted Puffer Pants with a faux fur vest and running shoes, and we’re living for this look.
Another shopper echoed the sentiment with “If you are a cold person like me, these pants have everything. They are warm – the front is quilted with a thin layer of recycled polyester, The back is fleece ON THE INSIDE, making them warm and cozy. The pant has a drawstring waist and 2 zippered pockets! All for $40.00! A similar quality pant would be at least 3 – 4 times the cost. Thank you Target.”
JoyLab Quilted Puffer Pants
Some Target reviewers mention the length of the pants hitting a bit short, so they opted to size up. But from our POV, a cute pair of thick wool socks or funky striped tube socks dial up the style — the slightly cropped length is part of the look. Also, nothing a great pair of UGG boots can’t handle.
And for just $40, these pants are a hidden treasure at Target. Just ask the savvy shopper who wrote, “I was so excited when I spotted them from across the store. I’d been wanting pants in this style since last year but typically they retail for 3x this price and I didn’t want to commit. So when I saw the price on these I ran to the register.”
