I Used To Work for an URBN Brand — Here Are All the Things *Actually* Worth Buying at Free People

I had many odd jobs in college, from working the front desk at a gym to being a hostess at a restaurant under 500 square feet; I did it all. And yet, my best time was when I worked at Urban Outfitters. Anyone who’s worked in retail can tell you that it’s not the easiest thing to do, yet I adored working at the Urban Outfitters on 5th Avenue in NYC. It was mostly because I loved the people I worked with, not to mention, the discount was terrific. In fact, I could use my discount across all URBN brands, including AnthropologieTerrain, and Free People

As a young fashion student who adores shopping, you can imagine how much I ran that discount up! While I loved all the brands, my absolute favorite was Free People. I loved how whimsical their style was, and the range of brands they carry are incredible. You can find things like Levi’sFor Love of LemonsNew BalanceHoka, and so much more there. For the year and a half that I worked at Urban Outfitters, I purchased loads of stuff across all the URBN brands, so I know a thing or two about what’s worth buying. And even more so now, since I don’t have the discount anymore (there’s not a day that goes by where I wish I did), there are just a few items I would still go in and buy.

From quality denim to comfy fleece and leggings, I’ve gathered some of the best pieces from Free People and FP Movement, which I swear by. Shop my favorites now, and know they’re oh-so worth the money.

Good Karma Running Shorts

During the pandemic, I lived in these biker shorts almost every single day. They’re beyond stretchy and incredibly comfy. I love the ribbed waistband. It hugs you without pinching, and the perforated sides make me feel like there’s a bit of ventilation, which is a must for me in the summer.

Never Better Leggings

FP Movement creates some of the best leggings out there. These Never Better Leggings are some of the best on the market. What I love about these is how stretchy and supportive they are. The seams on the high waistband are sleek and sit nicely over my belly button.

Ali Low-Back Seamless Bra

Like the biker shorts, I also wore this seamless bra daily during the pandemic — I have so many colors that it is somewhat ridiculous. They feel so lightweight as if you’re not wearing anything at all. I also appreciate its longline silhouette, so it doesn’t feel too cropped if you wear it alone.

CRVY Gia Wide-Leg Jeans

Free People’s CRVY Jeans are great for girls who need a little extra stretch but also like their jeans to feel like structured denim. I love these wide-leg jeans because they have such an easy, laid-back look that can be dressed up.

Georgiana Aviator Sunglasses

Over the years, I’ve bought about three to four pairs of these sunglasses. For just $25, they’re such a great deal. I love taking them with me on vacation because they look just like a pair of designer frames, and since they’re so affordable, it’s not the end of the world if I lose them.

Hit The Slopes Colorblock Pullover

I’m obsessed with the Hit The Slopes fleece collection. This pullover comes in tons of color combinations and offers a soft, plush warmth while still being lightweight.
