Christie Brinkley has long been an iconic fashion model, but now the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit star and Cover Girl spokeswoman is putting her own spin on clothing — thanks to a just-launched line with HSN called TWRHLL.

Inspired by the “Hamptons lifestyle” — which she describes to SheKnows as “clothes that look good even when you take your shoes off and walk on the beach” — and her own Hamptons home, Brinkley calls TWRHLL a collection of clothes “that are very wearable, very comfortable, very classic, but with a little something special to set them apart.”

In fact, the name TWRHLL comes from the name of her Long Island estate, Tower Hill. “When [HSN’s designers] walked into my house — which is very eclectic, really a very unique place — they were very inspired by what they saw.,” she explains. “And, they said, ‘Oh my gosh, the collection has to be called Tower Hill. Because this place is just bursting with creativity.”

Just as the collection is classic with a modern take, so is the name. Brinkley explains that they took out the vowels because ‘Tower Hill’ was already taken as a brand name. “[But] it’s kind of cute that it ends up looking like ‘twirl,'” she adds, “because who doesn’t love to twirl a skirt?”

It was also important to Brinkley that TWRHLL be size-inclusive, affordable (every item is priced under $100), and appeal to a wide age range. To that end, the 70-year-old supermodel‘s adult daughters added their stamp of approval to items throughout the design process.

“You know, they’re all busy with their lives, but every now and then they’d come in while I would be on a Zoom call or something,” she explained, “and they’d sort of hover over my shoulder and they’d say, ‘Oh, that looks good. I need that striped sweater, I want to get a pair of those jeans.’ That was helpful to know, that we were on course.

“No matter how old you are, you want clothes that work with you and that you feel good and comfortable in,” she continues. “I mean, that’s the beauty of classics, really, is that classic with a twist is something that works for every age.”

These days, that sense of ease and comfort is what defines good style for Brinkley. “I think it projects into everything else in your day, if you feel like your clothes move with you and you feel good in them,” she says. “That’s going to reflect on your mood, your posture, your energy. That’s really where your style is — your energy that you project when you enter the room. So you want clothes that allow you the freedom to be you.”
