I think it’s fair to say that Martha Stewart is an icon in every sense of the word. Sure, she’s mostly known for her abilities to make magic out of even the most basic ingredients, but even a 20-something-year-old like this writer knows her for being so much more. From being Snoop Dogg’s bestie to creating the definition of a modest thirst trap, Ms. Stewart is really that girl… err, woman. And at the young age of 83, she looks absolutely stunning! That is why when I found out that we both have the same Merit Beauty products, I knew I had to try and recreate her five-minute makeup routine stat!
Just yesterday, the multifaceted author posted a reel to her Instagram page with a quick five-minute makeup routine using nothing but Merit products. If you’ve never heard of the beauty brand, allow me to clue you in. Merit is the ultimate makeup and skincare line for the minimalist woman. They have less than 20 individual products that make doing a full face of makeup as easy as one, two, three, or, as Martha put it, “easier than making a pot of soup.”
And she couldn’t be more right. As someone who hates doing makeup (and isn’t well versed in the kitchen), using Merit products couldn’t be easier. The entire line is so user-friendly that it works for the young teen who’s just learning about makeup and the busy mom who literally has less than five minutes to get herself ready. From the Perfecting Complexion Stick, a fantastic combination of concealer and foundation, to the Shade Slick Tinted Lip Oil, everything creates a beautiful, seamless, and effortless look. Below, shop the key pieces from Martha Stewart’s five-minute makeup routinethat I absolutely love.
The Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Stick
Martha opens the video using The Minimalist stick. It’s the best and easiest complexion product you can use. I use it to quickly cover my under-eye circles and dark spots and then buff it out using the brand’s blending brush(Martha also uses it!).
Bronze Balm Sheer Bronzer
I don’t know about you, but bronzer can be one of those tricky complexion products that can really make or break your makeup. I like to use Merit’s Bronze Balm because although it’s very pigmented, it’s pretty sheer, so you can build it up as much as you need or just use a couple of dabs to add a little warmth to your face.
Day Glow Highlighting Balm
After adding some color to her complexion, Martha applies the Day Glow, which adds just the right amount of highlight without all the kitschy glitter.
Clean Lash Lengthening Mascara
“And I love mascara,” Martha says while applying the Clean Lash Mascara. “I have nice, long eyelashes and like to show them off.” And with Merit’s mascara, it’s never looked easier.
Shade Slick Tinted Lip Oil
Martha reached for the Shade Slick lip oil to finish her look. It’s available in 12 beautiful shades and adds just the right amount of color and shine.
