Stay fit while traveling by staying at these fitness hotels

If your travel plans have you worried that your best of fitness intentions will be dashed, you can take advantage of the growing number of hotels offering fitness facilities and workout plans. You can stay fit and trim while you are traveling, just stay at one of these fitness-focused hotels.

Research says those who exercise while traveling are more alert and responsive than non-exercisers. But with so many sights to see or meetings to attend, working out while traveling can be a challenge. Fortunately, some hotels are making it easier for you to stay fit with personalized programs and state-of-the-art gyms. Here are four fitness-equipped hotels to consider.

WESTIN WORKOUTS

As part of its Westin WORKOUT program, select Westin locations have an on-staff running concierge, who will lead you on three-mile jogs or power walks three mornings a week (some hotels even offer jog strollers).

If you would rather go solo, stop by the front desk first to get your customized trail map of nearby running routes designed and certified by the editors of Runner’s World and Bicycling magazines. Even if you opt to stay fit in your suite, you can break a sweat thanks to in-room yoga and Pilates routines available on the hotel TV channel.

MARRIOT’s FIT FOR YOU

Available at select locations, Marriott’s Great Health, Fit For You program offers three free workout options delivered right to your room. Check out the BodyRev (15-minute aerobic and strength training), The BodyWedge 21 (uses an incline wedge to target your abs, chest and lower body) and the Traveling Trainer (a resistance band workout). Do your own workouts or follow instructional videos available on in-room TVs.

WYNDHAM FIT TO WYN

Wyndhams have leapt into the 21st century with their Fit to Wyn virtual trainer program. Part of their new Blue Harmony fitness center and spa, the program lets you customize 20-, 30- or 40-minute workouts based on your fitness goals and desired results. You can then workout in their fully-equipped gyms or opt for a private session on your hotel room’s TV. A bonus? Each Blue Harmony facility features eco-friendly elements like furniture and fixtures made from sustainable materials, energy-efficient lighting, and robes made from organic cotton.

FAIRMONT FIT PROGRAM

Forgot your workout clothes? Not to worry if you are staying at a Fairmont. Thanks to their Fairmont Fit program, you will get adidas apparel and exercise equipment delivered to your door. The hotel provides free shorts, t-shirts and shoes, plus yoga mats, an MP3 player and other equipment for you to use during your stay. If you love the stuff, you have the option to buy it upon check out. To get the fitness goods, you have to join Fairmont’s President’s Club first – but, like the fitness gear, the membership is free, too.
