Perfect summer getaway: Maui

Day 3

It was pamper time. I arrived at the Westin’s art deco spa for my 80-minute Helani Tropical Indulgence spa treatment ($195), which began with a soothing star fruit cream body scrub, followed by a warm coconut milk bath. Normally, the treatment continues with a cold stone ritual on the face, neck, and scalp, but I was shivering, so I opted for a traditional massage with hydrating star fruit butter coconut cream.

Refreshed, I soaked in a private hot tub and worked up a sweat in the sauna and steam rooms.

Following my relaxing spa treatment, we checked out of the Westin and into the neighboring Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa — a sophisticated property with chandeliers hanging in the lobby and a courtyard full of swans and penguins, and parrots. Our tasteful, wood-accented room was equally impressive.

Before we knew it, it was time for dinner at the Hyatt’s top-shelf seafood restaurant, Cascades, where we enjoyed a lavish meal of sushi, pasta and wine.
