Marc Jacobs
With a 40’s feel, lots of hats and mirrors, the Marc Jacobs Spring 2009 runway show at Fashion Week looked like a fun-filled event. Celebrities came out in full force including Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Richie, Kanye West, Winona Ryder and Sofia Coppola. Hats were definitely dominating the collection, as were mixed prints and shoulder pads. Most of the looks didn’t make any sense – such as a prairie skirt topped with a gingham shirt and a tweed jacket, along with a straw hat, quilted bag and a pair of pretty sandals. The collection was a little bit old school, a little athletic, a little feminine, a little grunge and some glitz all rolled into one. Definitely zany but somehow it seemed to work. Take a look at the collection yourself, and pay attention to the accessories and shoes, which are fabulous. The video is in two parts.
William Rast
Justin Timberlake and partner Trace Ayala made their runway debut with their William Rast Spring 2009 collection. Timberlake describes Wiliam Rast as a “true American Brand” and a lot “Tennessee.” The line is edgy but it seems wearable with denim, soft leather, fringe and studs prevalent throughout.
Carolina Herrera
Though we all can’t afford the gowns from the runway, we can get incorporate some of the trends. As you will see by the Carolina Herrera dresses, this season is all about ruffles. She also offers some fabulous skinny suits with cropped pants. The collection is elegant and uses some contrasting fabrics and colors.
The things that we are seeing most from New York are lots of florals (nothing new for spring) and endless amounts of draped dresses. Additionally, rompers with shorts, fun headbands and caged sandals are prevalent. Look for more about Fashion Week here at SheKnows this week.
